ADTRAN MCP ONT Provisioning

Overview.

While working with an FTTH client, we were engaged to automate provisioning requests for customers based on defined triggers in the Hubspot CRM platform; the essential requirements were to automate the following tasks.

  • Create a Hubspot workflow to detect customers that have an installation date.
  • Create RadCheck entry for the customer.
  • Create RadUserGroup(s) entries for the customer.
  • Create RadReply entries for the customer (if IPV4/V6 is purchased)
  • When the engineer installs the ONT and adds the serial number to the CRM system, detect and trigger an MCP service deployment workflow.
  • Allow workflows for Provisioning, Upgrade, Downgrade, Suspend, Cease and Swap of ONT.

The following flow chart shows a high-level view of the workflow; this does not show all steps or checks carried out between the API Gateway and Adtran Mosaic but provides insight into how a typical provisioning flow may work.

Delivery Result.

The project was designed with scalability and speed, ensuring that service provisioning could be completed within a specified time, with tests finishing successfully in under one minute and any errors immediately detected and flagged through the workflow.

A combination of Hubspot private apps, API gateway, and Hubspot workflows were utilised to achieve this, resulting in a highly reliable and efficient solution deployed within a short development window.

The integration of Radius technology allowed for automatic customer entitlement provisioning post-order, with UI management of the Radius schema available for troubleshooting purposes if issues arise. In addition, Kafka event-driven workflows are currently being developed to enable the proactive triggering of customer services and support events, enhancing overall customer service relations.
